Advanced Structural Analysis of Innovative Steel–Glass Structures with Respect to the Architectural Design

This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of steel–glass spindle torus structure based on the prototype Jewel Changi Airport, Singapore. Instead studying common cuboid building, research in this focuses shape which incorporates tremendous, curved members. Hence, advanced modeling and structural valuable information about an irregularly shaped building. Meanwhile, process innovative also gives rise to some practical design recommendations for both architects engineers. In paper, global stability local member buckling behavior were studied. With use commercial finite element software, Strand7 (R2.4.6) ABAQUS (6.14), series numerical simulations conducted. terms structure, models incorporating straight steel members tested under different load combinations specified Australian building standards. A significant difference was observed between results two models; therefore, individual undertaken. Regarding behavior, effective length factor with braced sway boundaries conditions investigated Strand7. Moreover, interaction curves beams L/R ratios compared perfectly can provide more precise predictions behavior; elastic perimeter levels using ABAQUS. Additionally, impacts boundary beam are discussed.
